Improving Youth Engagement
For programs using the EDSC approach, the results are very encouraging. One program, for example, reported an increase in retention rate from 39% to 95% for young adult learners enrolled in a teen-only group and a GED pass rate nearly triple that of previous youth enrollees. Another program increased its retention rate from 40% to 75% after it incorporated EDSC principles. -as reported by the U.S. Department of Education's Education Resources Information Center (ERIC), Publication No 246.

In the absence of a knowledge base about what programs can do to raise program participation, the Effective Youth Engagement Project (E-YEP) was created.
